I am pregnant, at what stage do I need to make my fist appointment?
Generally speaking we wish to see you for your first appointment between 8-10 weeks of pregnancy.
How do I make an appointment ?
Do I need a referral to see Dr Arora?
A referral enables claims to be made from Medicare and your health fund. Referrals are valid for 12 months from a General Practitioner & 3 months if written from a specialist.
Prescription requests
Prescription requests outside of consultation are $15 and can only be requested if you've had a face to face consultation in the last 6 months. This is to ensure that you are clinically assessed and the medication is deemed appropriate still.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please remember to bring
- A current referral from your GP.
- Medicare card and private health insurance details.
- Ultrasound and blood test results.
Where will my baby be delivered?
You can choose to deliver at St John of God Hospital Berwick, Waverley Private Mount Waverley. It is advisable to book in the hospital of your choice early, our staff will assist in the booking process
If I need an operation where will it be done?
Regular Gynaecological operating lists at St john of God hospital Berwick and Waverley Private are scheduled. The reception staff can assist in finding a suitable time for you.
Information on Telehealth fees
A telehealth is a quick over phone consultation for review patients to discuss results. If no Medicare a $40 fee applies
What are the fees, and do I need to pay on the day?
There will be out of pocket cost for the consultations. Our reception staff will discuss costs with you. Payment for the consultation and the procedures undertaken in the office such as colposcopy, insertion of contraceptive device are required on the same day . For Gynae operations in hospital a quote will be issued before the procedure so you have an approximate idea of the cost. An invoice is sent prior to the surgery for payment. For Obstetric patients, a detailed list of the fees is given to you when you make your first appointment.
